I am Austris Apenis, horn player of Orkest De Ereprijs, freelance orchestral musician (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra of Europe) and a teacher for more than ten years. I teach in Amersfoort, at fanfare K.N.A. in Houten, at fanfare Crescendo in Voorthuizen and in my practice in Utrecht. Besides teaching I arrange music for horn ensembles and build apps for practising and lesson administration, which my students use.

Rates
Lesson minutes from €65 to €70 per hour incl. VAT: 30 minutes €35, 60 minutes €69, and every extra 60 minutes €1 per hour cheaper, down to €325 for 300 minutes. You buy the minutes in the shop and book lessons of 30, 45 or 60 minutes with them yourself in the lesson portal. Pay with iDEAL, credit card or PayPal, or by direct debit with a fixed lesson subscription, which runs per semester and can be cancelled twice a year. These rates apply to the studio in Amersfoort and online; the associations have their own rates.

Location

Lesson hours Monday to Friday 12:00–21:00 and at the weekend 12:00–18:00. Students come from Amersfoort, Leusden, Hoogland, Vathorst, Soest, Baarn, Nijkerk and Barneveld; online lessons are there for everyone further away.

Yes. The first 30-minute trial lesson costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Do I need my own instrument?
For French horn not right away: a horn is available in the studio for the trial lesson. For trumpet, flugelhorn or cornet you bring your own or a rented instrument, also to the trial lesson. After that I help you rent or buy one.
Do I have to commit for a year?
No. You choose single lessons with lesson minutes, or a fixed lesson subscription. A subscription runs per semester and can be cancelled twice a year, at the end of each semester.
Can I also take lessons online?
Yes, every lesson can also be given by video call, with the same method and materials.
How do I request a trial lesson?
